BBQ One - Eastwood

For a super late Saturday lunch, we decided to snack at BBQ One, a pretty famous Chinese BBQ place in Sydney - good for food only, not for service or ambiance or anything else.

BBQ One

We were seated at a table next to many many suckling pigs. My partner was salivating and trying to tell me what an awesome idea it would be to have lots of these at our upcoming wedding.

Many suckling pigs

We ordered 2 things. We ordered a bbq duck and soya chicken stir noodle ($13) and a sweet corn soup ($5.50). There was complementary soup served - pork bone and corn - which is ... umm... looks unappetising because of the many white fatty deposits floating on top. So whilst my partner drank it with no complaints, I just left mine and waited for my sweet corn soup.

The sweet corn soup was just the right consistency. Super sweet (slightly msgy?) with many corns and eggy bits. Very yummy and appetising :)

My partner's noodles were also decnet. The duck was very quickly gobbled up by my partner (which must say something about either his hunger, or the deliciousness of the food), and the chicken was tender and tasty. All up, not a bad feed.

Half-way through our meal, the staff (who pretends that no one else is in the shop) pig out with the dumplings nad pan-fried pork buns from across the road at New Shanghai. Hmmm... if I were the boss, that kind of behaviour should take place in the kitchen out back LOL

I often see staff chowing down on dinner .. and it irks me too..and I've always wondered whether my attitude sucks. We ate at a restaurant recently and the one 'front of house' staff member ate while we ate.. However..when we needed her, she had to drop her utensils, wipe her mouth and attend to our needs. *Shakes head*

What a sight hey?!! Those pigs! Not for the faint hearted vego's.. lol. I have European roots, so it doesn't phase me. I wonder how much they charge for one piglet?

Hmmm
yeh - not professional at all.
Vaguely, I remember seeing something like $55/kg for one of those suckling pigs :)
