Bavarian Bier Cafe (2) - Parramatta

Monday was super humid before the storm set in. Such unpleasant weather calls for a cold beer and a big schnitzel does it not?

Well, being the indecisive person that I am, and perhaps a little bit greedy too, I went for a Bavarian Tasting Plate ($25) which has yummy succulent chicken schnitzel (not enough mayo though), pork belly with a very WOW OMG crunchy crispy skin, and different types of sausages. Mmm... the meat on this plate was spectacular. Unfortunately, the mash, red cabbage and sauerkraut which underlies all this meat wasn't as delicious. The mash was hard, not creamy, the sauerkraut was too sour and the red cabbage was almost tasteless. I should probably turn into a carnivour :)

My friend stuck to the plan and ordered the pan-fried chicken schnitzel ($25) served with salad and chips. Judging from the taste of my schnitzel, my friend's schnitzel must have tasted pretty good too. AND he got more mayo :)

Bavarian Bier Cafe is a good chillout place to hang with friends. Though rather quite on a Monday night, you hear bells resounding off the walls every now and then whenever schnapps are ordered.

I've been to the one at The Entertainment Quarter and found it okay. Bistro-style food and large portions.

i really like the tasting plate. a bit of everything for me works well because i'm always wanting to try everything on the menu :-) i love their crispy pork belly when it's done really well.

yeh
I generally really like tasting plates because you can sample many things rather than just commit to one :)
